The main purpose of a Phlebotomist is to help in troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. Position Responsibilities: Have experience with blood draws, centrifuging specimens and recording maintenance data. Update patient information. Assists in the collection and storage of specimens following established procedures. Explains in a clear and friendly manner the procedure of venipuncture (blood draw) or any other specimen collection (ex. As required, urine and fecal. Matches specimen tubes to laboratory requisitions.
As per test order, label, centrifuge and split specimens. To ensure accuracy, all test requisitions and computer labels must be checked against the script. Packaging specimens for transport Comply with OSHA regulations and DEP regulations. Answer phone calls and read laboratory results. Minimum Qualifications: You must have valid phlebotomy certification in the state you are working in.
